Former Historiographer of the Royal Orders dead

Knud Jesper Vingaard Jespersen, dr. phil., professor emeritus, Historiographer of the Royal Orders, passed away on July 29th.
Former Historiographer of the Royal Orders dead

Knud J. V. Jespersen, born on February 8th, 1942, was a historian at the University of Odense. He was appointed Historiographer of the Royal Orders in 1995, succeeding Tage Kaarsted - also an alumni of the University of Odense.


Jespersen filled the role as historiographer until 2018, where he was succeeded by Jes Fabricius Møller.


Jespersen was Grand Officer of the Order of Dannebrog and also decorated with the Dutch Order of Oranje-Nassau, Finland's Order of the White Rose, Germany's Order of Merit and Japan's Order of the Sacred Treasure.


He leaves behind an extensive written production.
